Learn more about our Proven Model

At MicroLoan Foundation, we know that one opportunity can change everything. Our approach is simple yet effective: we provide financial literacy training and small business loans to women living in deep, persistent poverty. This empowers them to start and grow their own businesses, build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

How and why it works:

We work with women: Evidence shows that when a woman increases her income, she spends it on her family and children first

We provide ongoing support: After seven initial training modules, we continue to provide more training every month.

We make finance accessible: We don’t ask for collateral or remove assets when a woman is struggling to repay. We help her to find a solution.

We work with groups: We work in groups of five women. Each group has a collective responsibility to each other.

The difference your support will make

£3,800

Will help 56 women begin their journey out of poverty.

Over a five-year period, an estimated 280 women will benefit, and a total of 1,120 children will have increased access to food, healthcare and an education.

Our Impact: Adventure with a purpose

The heart of the South Africa Challenge is the lasting change you help create. Every participant commits to a fundraising goal that directly supports women entrepreneurs across Sub-Saharan Africa. Your efforts provide the capital and skills necessary for mothers to build sustainable businesses, ensuring their children have consistent meals, access to education, and a future full of opportunity.
