This week marks the launch of MicroLoan’s newest campaign “Face of an entrepreneur”.
The new campaign is part of an ongoing effort to demonstrate how the charity is supporting female entrepreneurs in Africa and draws the parallels between them and female entrepreneurs in the UK.
When asked to think of entrepreneurial role models, most people will think of the likes of Richard Branson, Jo Malone and Deborah Meaden. We want to challenge these stereotypes.
In the campaign we see successful British businesswoman and entrepreneur Deborah Meaden, famous for her Dragon’s Den investing, alongside Anne Kambewa, owner of a small family run lodge in Africa who has lifted herself and her family out of poverty by starting her business with the support of MicroLoan. Deborah Meaden said “Entrepreneurs do not all look the same and neither do they all set out with the same goals to measure their success. But entrepreneurs across the world do have the same desire to take opportunity, to succeed and to make their lives, and their children’s, better. That’s why I support the MicroLoan Foundation’s approach to giving them a hand up, not a hand out.”
The ‘Face of an Entrepreneur’ posters follow the 2015 campaign Women 4 Women which encouraged small business owners in the UK to raise money for MicroLoan through buying advertising space.
Commenting on the poster campaign, Peter Ryan, CEO of Microloan Foundation, said, “We are extremely fortunate to have this media space donated to us for yet another year and wish to thank all those involved for their time and generosity. The women we support in Africa are not looking for handouts – they really do want to help themselves. We enable them to use their entrepreneurial skills to build a future out of poverty for themselves and their families.”
