Position: Fundraising & Events Lead

Location: Central London – MicroLoan Foundation, 32 Blackfriars Rd, London SE1 8PB with flexible option to work 2 days per week from home

Salary: £32-36k per annum depending on experience and geography

Duration: Full time, permanent 37.5 hours per week

About MicroLoan Foundation

At MicroLoan Foundation, we enable the poorest and most vulnerable women in sub-Saharan Africa to work their own way out of poverty. By providing them with small loans and the skills and tools to start a business, we support them to become self-sufficient for their daily needs.

Over time, the money they generate from their own efforts helps to ensure food security, improved housing, access to healthcare and education for their children. We encourage them to make modest savings as insurance against future crop failure, family illness and other unexpected circumstances; giving them confidence in their ability to weather whatever life throws at them. The role

MicroLoan Foundation is looking for an experienced Fundraising & Events Lead with a proactive and entrepreneurial attitude. The central function of the role is to manage and grow fundraising income from an innovative and exciting programme of events including in-person and digital events as well as UK and overseas challenges. The Fundraising & Events Lead will be engaging with donors, sponsors, fundraisers, speakers, partners, suppliers and volunteers to maximise income. You will manage suppliers and supporters to ensure that all events are delivered within an agreed budget and feed into the overall fundraising strategy.

• Demonstrable experience of managing successful fundraising events – in person and digital

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Technical proficiency to manage and produce digital events and manage online fundraising platforms
• Ability to multi-task and manage time well
• Ability to manage stress and deliver against targets in a high-pressure role
• A genuine interest in our cause
• Willingness to work some evening and weekend
• Willingness to travel overseas

 

Responsibilities 

• Develop a growth strategy for MicroLoan Foundation’s event function
• Deliver MicroLoan Foundation’s portfolio of fundraising events including digital and in-person fundraising events and UK and overseas challenges
• Project manage all aspects of delivering the events from recruiting participants, marketing, securing sponsors, speakers, venue sourcing, managing digital platforms, liaising with suppliers, financial reporting, and health and safety
• Proactively seek opportunities to innovate and further evolve event portfolio to grow fundraising income
• Effectively lead and manage external stakeholders and volunteer committees to deliver successful and compliant events
• Effectively steward donors, sponsors and event participants, developing relationships to maximise long term income opportunities
• Work closely with the fundraising team to ensure events strategy is integrated to drive acquisition of a wide range of donors from low level giving to major donors
• Coordinate multimedia event participant recruitment campaigns
• Manage event budgets, ensuring events programme is delivered within the budget utilising cost effective resources, volunteer support, gifts in kind and sponsorship to control costs
• Analyse all aspects of event performance reporting as required and utilising the results to improve practice. This includes evaluation of cost effectiveness, levels of potential and sustainability
• Undertake any other tasks reasonably required
