Thank you for visiting the MicroLoan Foundation's Walk to Work 2008 web page.

On Friday 12 September, people all over the world will be walking to work for the MicroLoan Foundation and raising money to help women in Africa set up their own businesses.

The idea is simple.  Just make a small donation to the MicroLoan Foundation to register and walk.  You can also collect sponsorship if you would like to (see below).  You can walk to work, or school, or - if this is impractical - anywhere else that captures your imagination.  If your journey is very long, you may prefer to walk from your nearest train or bus station.

When you register, you can select one of these three options:

- Walk to Work on September 12th 2008

- Walk the Week starting on September 8th 2008

- Walk for Work and set your own challenge (for example, cycle or jog to your destination instead - it's really up to you!)

Simply choose the challenge that feels right for you and then sign up to take part.

How do I get involved?

There are two ways of registering:

1.) Register online via Justgiving by CLICKING HERE.

If registering online, you will need to make a small donation to MLF to complete your registration.  Once you have registered, there will be an option to set up your own fundraising page so your family, friends and colleagues can support you in your efforts."

2.) Alternatively, you may prefer to register by completing the Entry Form on our Walk to Work leaflet.  If so, please contact Sarah-Jane Seel (sj.seel@mlf.org.uk; tel: 020 8996 1730) to request a copy.

T-shirts

Specially designed Walk to Work T-shirts will be sent out nearer the time to everyone who registers to walk and raises or donates a minimum of £25 to MLF.

If you register online, it would be helpful if you could complete the question asking which size T-shirt you would like.  If you register by completing a leaflet, a member of our team will contact you about receiving a T-shirt.

What about raising money?

How you choose to raise money is up to you.  You can get your family and friends to sponsor you, or simply make a donation yourself.  For example, you could give £25 which is the size of a typical first loan to our clients and will help one woman set up her own business.  Or maybe you'd like to donate your normal train or bus fare.

If you are interested in raising sponsorship, you can set up your own fundraising page online by clicking here.

Alternatively, you may prefer to download a sponsorship form here.

Whatever you raise, you will be showing your solidarity with our clients in Africa who have to make long journeys, nearly always by foot, as part of their everyday lives.

Even small amount can make a big difference.  And because 97% of our loans are repaid in full, your donation will be recycled into new ventures year after year...
