Groups of entrepreneursYou now have the opportunity to choose which group you would like to sponsor. By choosing a branch in the green box above, you can pick a group that appeals to you and make a donation to help the women in this group set up their own businesses. Why should I loan to a group?
Loan clients are organised into groups of on average 15-18 people, with each member running their own project but benefiting from the support of all the other members of the group. The women who receive the loans use the money to start a wide range of businesses, including vegetable farming, fish-selling, knitting and sewing clothes, and running cafes. Our average loan size is £55 for a four month loan cycle.
Please note that for the next few months, it will only be possible to sponsor groups in Malawi at a selection of branches. Although we have 20 branches in operation in Malawi lending to over 1,100 groups of women, we are only currently providing sponsor opportunities to donors for existing groups with online photos of themselves which have been taken by our own loan staff. This will gradually increase over time - thank you for your patience.
