THE CHARITY:

MicroLoan Foundation (MLF) helps some of the poorest women in the world feed their families, send their children to school and pay for life saving medicines. We are a very different kind of charity, offering hope, not handouts. By providing small loans (average £60) and ongoing business training and support, MicroLoan empowers women in rural Malawi and Zambia to set up self-sustainable businesses. The profits from these businesses enable the women to work themselves and their families out of poverty. The charity has significant plans for growth in both existing and new countries in Sub Saharan Africa and this role is pivotal in driving the funding for this growth.

MicroLoan has pioneered an innovative and sustainable microfinance model suited to remote rural areas and for people most in need in the community. The organisation enables women to work their way out of poverty by providing opportunities to develop lifelong skills, access vital financial services and establish sustainable small businesses. Crucially, MicroLoan works at the grassroots, with people who are usually ignored by other organisations in this sector because of their needs or location.

THE FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS TEAM:

The Fundraising & Communications (F&C) team is responsible for generating income and driving engagement from new and existing supporters. They will do this by developing high impact long-term relationships with individual major donors, companies and institutions (including statutory funding) and by engaging mass support through events, marketing and community fundraising. There is a need to bring in new support across all areas with a particular focus on developing our corporate and major donor fundraising streams. The team will continue to ensure that they support, cultivate and steward existing relationships that may be philanthropic, commercial or both in nature, to deliver value and growth.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Based in London and reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Communications, you will be responsible for developing and managing MicroLoan’s portfolio of Corporate Partnerships to meet both financial  and non-financial targets. MLF currently derives limited income from Corporate Partnerships and much of the current income is restricted. So there is a real opportunity to grow unrestricted fundraising income from all areas of corporate fundraising but in particular, charity of the year style partnerships, sponsorship, matched-funders and strategic partnerships that have shared values with MLF. You will be responsible for building a pipeline for new business as well as delivering ‘best in class’ account management for any successful new partnerships. You will be working closely with the Director of F&C but will be expected to use your own initiative to grow this new area for MLF.
